Sample gift in will wording


The following wording may help you and your advisor include House with No Steps in your Will.

Specific Gift Wording

Use this if you intend to make an unrestricted gift in Will of cash, securities, or other property by designating a specific dollar amount, a particular asset, or a fixed percentage of your estate to House with No Steps to be used for general purposes:

“I give the sum of $________(or percentage or a description of the specific asset) to House with No Steps, ABN#: 31 001 813 403, for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Secretary or other proper officer shall be an absolute discharge to my trustee who shall not be bound to see the application of this gift.”

Residual Gift Wording

Use this language to gift the remainder of your estate after expenses and specific bequests are paid:

“I give the the remainder of my estate to House with No Steps, ABN#: 31 001 813 403, for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Secretary or other proper officer shall be an absolute discharge to my trustee who shall not be bound to see the application of this gift.”

Family First Gift Wording

Use this if you wish to make a family first (contingency) gift. Then House with No Steps will receive a portion of your estate if your named beneficiary does not survive you:

“If [insert name] is not living at the time of my demise, I give the sum of $________(or percentage or a description of the specific asset) to House with No Steps, ABN#: 31 001 813 403, for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Secretary or other proper officer shall be an absolute discharge to my trustee who shall not be bound to see the application of this gift.”
